March 2010 Archives

Casco Bay Glassworks is now included in Maine Day Trip's "Meet the Artists" tour and day trip excursion.

I met glass artist Ben Coombs and his family at their Portland, Maine glassblowing studio.  His contemporary glass sculptures are magnificent and the detail is quite impressive.  He also creates ornaments, goblets, and many types of glass gifts.  Check out his online store portlandglassblowing.com.  Take our tour and Ben will be happy to show you a glassblowing demo right in his work studio.  You will see glass lobster buoys and ribbon heart ornaments, along with many different hand-blown objects, in their studio store.

"Meet the Artists" tour is customized for your interests.  Let us know the type of art work that you are interested in and we will arrange appointments with some of the best Maine talent at their own studio or gallery.

Your private excursion can include many elements of the quality of place that Maine is known for.  Lighthouses, museums, galleries, artists, historical landmarks, scenic vistas and ocean views are all yours just for the asking. Don't forget about the lobster also!

Maine has scenic by-ways, lighthouses, museums, historic buildings and many outdoor activities for year round fun - but you knew that.

Maine artists with their own gallery or studio are welcome to contact us for possible inclusion in our tours.

Our private tours are generally for small groups of up to 6 people.  "Meet Maine Artists" tours that are scheduled ahead of time will allow us to contact artists and set up specific tour time frames for a visit.

Please contact us if you would like your gallery or studio to be included on our list.

We look forward to introducing you to our tour visitors, many from cruise ships, who are specifically interested in original art and meeting the artist.

See What Maine Artists Saw

The Portland Museum of Art and Maine Day Trip have collaborated to create a very unique sightseeing and museum tour.  This 'once in a lifetime' opportunity combines visiting locations that are depicted in scenes of Maine, by American master artists such as Edward Hopper and Winslow Homer, with a museum visit to see some of their works.
